Matisse and the Maroccans

One of the problems of sharing painting pictures on the internet is that no-one gets a clue of the dimensions of the paintings. The Maroccans by Henri Matisse is BIG, roughly 182 x 280 cm. That’s almost three meters wide!

The scene takes place in Marocco and the green shapes on the left are watermelons. This painting doesn’t really display incredible features, it’s “simply” a very good one.
When you see it in front of your eyes tho, it evokes feelings à la “One Thousand and One Nights” and you suddenly find yourself in the opening scene of Walt Disney’s Aladdin.
